Position: Senior Environmental Permitting Consultant

An opportunity is available for a motivated, well-organized, and entrepreneurial Senior Environmental Consultant seeking career advancement in the field of environmental permitting. This role will contribute to establishing and nurturing an Environmental Permitting practice in Massachusetts and surrounding regions of New England. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance to clients, collaborate with staff on various projects, actively seek new opportunities, and maintain existing client relationships. Daily tasks will involve interacting with clients, engaging in business development activities, crafting proposals, mentoring staff, overseeing quality and health/safety programs, and utilizing regulatory expertise to serve our clients.

Your Opportunity

You will engage in program research, planning, and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services across various environmental programs such as air, water, waste, corrective action, mining, biology, and other relevant domains. Responsibilities will also encompass report writing, plan development, and implementing strategies to efficiently progress projects towards completion.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Offer technical leadership on projects and innovative solutions for environmental challenges in energy and other infrastructure projects.
• Lead teams in tasks encompassing wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterization, land use mapping, vegetation cover classification, and other surveys focusing on natural resources.
• Coordinate, oversee, and prepare permit applications for various agencies including the US Army Corps of Engineers, Massachusetts DEP Division of Wetlands and Waterways, Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act, and Massachusetts Public Waterfront Act.
• Devise proposal strategies and collaborate with a broader proposal team.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to successfully execute energy projects.
• Drive business development initiatives with both new and existing clients.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality service on client projects.
• Effectively communicate data collection methods and results to diverse audiences including clients, regulators, and the public.
• Recruit, mentor, and support the professional development of staff.

Minimum 7 years experience
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead diverse project teams and manage large complex projects, particularly energy projects
• Experience with local, state, and federal environmental permitting in Massachusetts
