Your Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our team of transportation experts serving state and municipal clients across Maine, New Hampshire, and New England. You’ll be based in one of our offices in Portland, ME; Auburn, NH; or South Burlington, VT, and be part of a larger New England transportation design group with offices in Burlington & Boston, MA, and several satellite locations. Our New England transportation structures group boasts about 30 bridge staff with diverse experience and project backgrounds.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Innovative Design & Analysis: Perform cutting-edge bridge design and analysis.
- Project Development: Create detailed design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Technical Excellence: Prepare, check, and deliver precise engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of quality design and teamwork.
- Field Engagement: Assist with occasional bridge inspection and load rating assignments.
- Constructability Reviews: Conduct thorough constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Expertise: Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, and/or VTrans design standards and practices.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, MicroStation, MathCAD, Inroads, & Microsoft Office.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOware, LPile, Group, LEAP-steel/concrete, etc.) is a plus.
- Communication: Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
- Field Experience: Experience with bridge inspection and load rating is desired.
Education and Experience
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Licensing: Licensed Professional Engineer required.
- Work Environment: Primarily office-based with some field work. Flexible part-time remote work available once in-office relationships are established.
