Sr. Dir. Business Development Clinical Trials

Location: Boston

The Senior Director of Strategic Solutions plays a pivotal role in developing and nurturing relationships with key decision-makers within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. This senior-level position involves managing an assigned territory, cultivating a robust sales pipeline, advancing sales opportunities, and fostering connections with unidentified accounts.


  1. Leveraging Established Relationships:

    • Utilize existing connections within the pharma and biotech industry.
    • Generate new leads and prospects by analyzing industry trends, conducting initial research, and making phone contacts.
    • Vet qualified sales leads from diverse sources, including inside sales, trade shows, and referrals.
  2. Driving New Business Development:

    • Lead efforts to explore and secure new business opportunities.
    • Manage corporate meetings and exhibitions to showcase our offerings.
    • Represent our organization at local, national, and international events relevant to public relations and future business growth.
  3. Strategic Matchmaking:

    • Develop and secure business by aligning existing and new clinical trial opportunities with sites.
    • Mentor Directors and Associate Directors within the Business Development team.
  4. Customer Relationship Management:

    • Anticipate and address customer challenges, providing solutions, information, and guidance.
    • Identify new opportunities for collaboration.
    • Recommend improvements to enhance profitability and service quality.
    • Cultivate and maintain industry and customer contacts to foster positive relations and explore business opportunities.
    • Regularly update customer profiles in the contacts management system.
  5. Market Penetration:

    • Stay informed about our services, competitor offerings, and industry trends.
    • Develop tailored account strategies for all relevant customers.
  6. Adherence to Quality Standards:

    • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Collaborate in maintaining high-quality service and departmental standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical/research site sales experience required
  • 3+ years of clinical research experience preferred
  • Operations experience in clinical trials preferred through knowledge of research and pharmaceutical industry, terminology, and practices
  • Proven ability in presenting and negotiating
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet demanding deadlines
  • The ability to cold call is required
