Your Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to take on complex challenges in bridge design and inspection. With 10 to 15 years of experience, you’ll have the chance to lead projects that redefine infrastructure across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Your Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll:
- Lead bridge design projects—from concept through construction, ensuring safety, efficiency, and durability.
- Perform and oversee bridge inspections, including complex structures, and provide detailed reports to guide decision-making.
- Develop engineering calculations, construction plans, and cost estimates to support state and municipal transportation agencies.
- Evaluate and rate existing structures, determining rehabilitation or replacement needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to project strategy.
- Engage in construction oversight, reviewing contractor submittals and responding to RFIs to ensure project success.
What You Bring to the Team
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and experience with
MDOT SHA, MDTA, and VDOT preferred.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and familiarity with DOT/Municipal CAD standards.
- Hands-on bridge load rating experience
- Strong grasp of bridge inspection methods, including FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (preferred but not required).
- Ability to travel within the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. region and perform fieldwork at heights when needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in bridge design and inspection, with a bonus for experience on complex or fracture-critical bridges.
- Valid driver’s license
