This role is responsible for ensuring the appropriate IT infrastructure and systems are in place to support each entities business needs but also align with NA strategy and adhere to Global policies and guidelines. As a newly created role, the initial focus will be on the development of an IT strategy and structure for NA. You would work with individual operating entities to understand business needs and lead efforts to coordinate and manage solutions with local partners and Global IT department that align with NA strategy.
This role will be responsible for bridging the gap between the business functions and the technical world. You will need to understand both environments. It is also both strategic and tactical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and support actively the development, implementation, and monitoring of the IT strategy within North America.
- Participate in individual business strategy meetings to ensure IT strategy alignment.
- Proactively assess and improve infrastructure architecture as required to meet user and security needs.
- Day-to-day management of IT resources (currently consists of one full-time employee and two third-party IT partners).
- Manage tools and resources to provide end-user support for computer desktops, applications, and any required IT related services included but not limited to:
- Microsoft Products
- ERP Systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Phone Systems (RingCentral preferred)
- HRIS and Payroll Systems
- Website Support
- Keep the NA Leadership team up to date on available tools to improve the business, IT trends and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate IT functions on potential acquisition targets. Lead efforts to integrate and streamline the IT functions of acquisitions.
- Security
o Ensure strong security is in place across all businesses, including installing Microsoft security patches, correct configurations of web servers and application servers. Ensure all Global requirements are configured to meet regional standards.
o Develop and maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery plans and cyber security measures. Provides improvements and maintenance of enterprise security architecture for the organization.
o Reacts promptly and immediately to cyber security threats or incidents.
Qualifications:
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or engineering is strongly preferred. Experience closely related to the position requirements will be considered.
- Experience
o Ten years administering IT infrastructure procedures, including experience in system design, deployment, monitoring and maintenance.
o Three years in a senior IT management position working with functional business leaders
o Experience working in an inter-company and international environment with local and global policies
o In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, hardware, applications, and emerging technologies
o Ability to collaborate with business associates and management, including a strong sense of commitment to understanding and solutioning IT business requirements
o Must have strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision-making and negotiating skills, and the ability to relate business requirements and risks to technology implementations
o Proficiency in Microsoft 365 environment applications is required
o Familiar with MS Azure and Security stack
o Skills in Cisco / Meraki preferred
o Familiar with VMWare or HyperV
o Proven practice in working and managing multi-site IT environments
o Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
o Preference is an in-office role in the Boston (Haverhill/Hampton) or Buffalo area but a hybrid 2–3-day week in office situation will be considered.
o Flexibility for after-business hours support during critical events.
o Travel – up to 25%; primarily between operating entities in US and Canada but occasional international travel may be required.
